IMPEACHMENT LOOMS FOR COVERNOR T.A ORJI OF ABIA STATE

In Abia State, there is fear of possible impeachment of Governor Theodore Orji as series of secret meetings by Abia stakeholders including members of the state House of Assembly have been holding in the past few days to map out modalities and strategies to impeach the governor.
According to a reliable source who spoke under the condition of anonymity said at least 10 house members and some prominent politicians from Abia Central zone of the state are behind the move.

The source said, “The house has been matured over the past years on the abuse of office by the governor and his immediate family, who not only arrogate authority to themselves but have been milking the state’s resources dry since the inception of the present administration.
The proposed allegations leveled against the governor are endless including misappropriation of local government funds, non disclosure and siphoning of internally generated revenue, award of contracts to family members and inflation of contracts among others.
Speaking, a chieftain of PDP from Ngwa spoke bitterly about the way the governor has mortgaged the future of the state because of his anomalies noting that instead of impeaching the likes of Nyako, Governor Orji’s impeachment is long overdue. He added that governor has been playing the people of Ngwa on the zoning of the governorship seat ahead of 2015 general elections. He said, “We are not fools and we wouldn’t allow anybody to play politics on issues of collective interest to our zone. “We have supported other zones to produce the governor and our own time has come but the governor keeps promising us in the open only for him, to meet with people from other zones with the same promise.
Efforts to reach the speaker of Abia state house of assembly to enlighten our correspondent on the issue proved abortive as his phone was switched off.
